Managing deer around the garden starts with making the space less appealing and harder to reach. Deer are opportunistic grazers, so the most effective approach is usually a mix of deterrents rather than one single fix. 
A tall fence is the best physical barrier, but it needs to be high enough to discourage jumping; 10' tall usually does the trick.
If fencing isn’t practical, try planting deer-resistant species, using motion-activated lights or sprinklers, and rotating repellents so deer don’t get used to one scent or taste.
It also helps to reduce easy food sources. Keep tender vegetables, flowers, and young shrubs protected, especially in spring when new growth is most attractive. Harvest ripe produce quickly, clean up fallen fruit, and trim plants so they’re not overexposed at the garden edge. The key is consistency: deer are creatures of habit, and if your garden stays unpredictable and uninviting, they’ll usually move on.
